New You
The two of you,
within the capture of a single moment,
have given all lovers a glimpse into a kind of
love that showcased such
raw emotion.
Let this frame be a trophy, a prize
to show any naysayer that your
marriage has not died.
Will it be the living room?
Perhaps the fire mantle?
Surely, a suitable place to idle
such sweet spoils.
Let it be known that it was the craft of
my lens, the angle of my full shot,
that presented a power couple of the new.
Let it be known that it was my skill that brought
a look into love, that truly could
conquer.
Fixing Us
Maybe renewing our vows would finally
put everything back in place.
Surely the family won’t be satisfied
with a few joyous pictures.
We must prove to them that we are
perfect.
It’s okay,
I know I can do better,
I can do better for you,
please.
I got that new makeup set,
It cleared up last night’s mistakes
just fine.
It’s okay— it’s not your fault— I should of never
yelled at you.
But it’s okay—
the photographer didn’t even notice—
I managed
to conceal the left side of my face.
He even said that we,
“Showcased such raw emotion.”
We can be fixed— I know we can—
I’ve gathered all my pieces,
And surrendered to you.
